For too many years the stigma that came with having a mental illness was often worse than the illness itself.
Approximately 60% of people with a mental illness won’t seek out the help they need due to the stigma associated with being labelled mentally ill. We all know someone who has taken their own life and left this world too soon. Suicide, which accounts for the highest number of annual preventable deaths, found that 90% of those deaths are caused from some form of mental illness. It isn’t until that person is gone from this world that we wish they had reached out for the help they so desired.
My mission and journey is to raise awareness and funds globally that will tear down these labels, remove the stigmas and discrimination by providing people with the strength, opportunity and courage to reach out for the help they need, to never give up, finally creating the compassionate world we all deserve and to prove that
Dreams are for Everyone.
Tommy Frew has one goal: to play one single game in the NHL as its oldest rookie and inspire others with mental health issues to follow their dreams.
